Each year we enter a team to the Southport 24 Hr Race. Described as the UK's number 1 dinghy endurance race, its a unique opportunity for teams to compete for serious trophies (and status), whilst also enjoying the unique hospitality provided by one of the best social events in the dinghy racing calendar. (Most of the team normally travel up for the party on Friday night - over 48 hours of non-stop - that isnt a typo - sailing and partying!!)

We generally somehow do quite well, getting a few 3rds in our class and 4ths overall - which always manages to amaze us because we are without a doubt one of the most relaxed teams - we're there for the fun of it! (Just watch Bolton SC for a few minutes to see how serious some teams get - then again they do normally win!)

The race is sailed on the relatively safe waters of the Marine Lake at Southport. We stole this sentence from the Southport 24 Hr Race website - notice their very careful use of the word 'relatively'! Sailing in the dark always has its adventures - especially in the classic strong winds they seem to get at night!
