Weather

The current weather is displayed on each page of the site - if you haven't found it yet look right to the blue boxes, then follow them down a bit and there she is! If you're looking for external weather data or forecasts for either the club itself - or even another area/country, then read the bottom paragraph of this page for some suggestions.

The weather source shown on the website pages isn't taken live from the Silver Wing Sailing Club, but comes from a military weather feed nearby. Obviously we can't always promise what is says is true, bad data gets into even the best of systems, so regard it with a pinch of salt and bare it in mind as a rough idea of what conditions are like at the club.

The symbols used are all pretty obvious, with a sun for day, and a moon for night, and all the usual combinations of rain, cloud, etc, however if you're unsure quite what it means you can check what it says just below the picture, or look at the list the nearer the bottom of this page!

Underneath that we have the temperature in degrees Celsius, followed by the wind direction with compass bearing, and wind speed. The wind speed is in knots as this is the most popular format for marine vessels. (1 knot = 1.15 mph or 1mph = 0.87 knots)

Next up we have the current pressure measured in Hectopascals. (1 Hectopascal = 1 Millibar or 100 Pascals), and relative humidity. These two can be a bit vague for those who don't understand them fully - I suggest again the BBC's excellent guides:
- Pressure
- Humidity

And finally we have the visibility measured in miles. I should hope this one speaks for itself!

For those who prefer the weather in different measurements, the BBC have a good set of weather related converters at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ukweather/calculators/.
